Children’s Life Assurance Scheme                                                                                        
BENEFIT - Cover for children of members to age 21 - € 7,500. Cost – Included in Members Scheme


Loss of Eye / Limb / Disablement – Serving Member                                                                        
BENEFIT - €15,000 re accident on or off duty. Cost – Included in Members Scheme 

Student Garda Assurance Scheme                                                                                                         
BENEFIT - €30,000, for initial period of training (58 weeks). Cost – Carried by Underwriters, Irish Life Plc.


Spouses / Partners Life Assurance Scheme                                                                                         
BENEFIT – Of € 115,000 paid only to a member of the Association who is also a member of the Members Scheme who suffers the loss of a spouse / or nominated partner (terms apply). Cost – Funded by the Association

Spouses / Partners Life Assurance Scheme – of Retired Member                                                    
GRA Members on Retirement who wish to retain a Spouse / Partner on cover (to age 65) may do so if the member contacts Penpro Limited, no later than 1 month after retirement from the Force.

Retired Members - 65 to 70 years
BENEFIT - €10,000. COST - €2 per month

GROUP SERIOUS ILLNESS SCHEME
Improved Benefits!

The GRA Serious Illness Scheme was renewed, for a four-year period from 1st May 2008 with Friend’s First Insurance and Penpro Pension and Protection Consultants - with improved Benefits for all members.

                                                          BENEFITS / COSTS : FROM 01/05/08 :-
Critical Illness Scheme – GRA Members                                                                
BENEFIT - € 85,000. Cost - € 3.30 per week

Critical Illness Scheme – Children                                                                                       
BENEFIT - € 25,000 cover for children age 1 –18 (25 if in full-time / vocational education)
Cost – No additional cost for GRA members, who are part of Members Scheme


Critical Illness Scheme – Spouses of GRA Members                                                 
BENEFIT - € 85,000. Cost - €2.70 per week  (€6.00 per week for member, spouse and children)

Critical Illness Scheme – Student Gardai                                                                     
BENEFIT - € 25,000 during initial training period – (58 weeks). Cost – Funded by Association


Critical Illness Scheme – Retired GRA Members & Spouses                                  
BENEFIT EACH - € 42,500 to age 65. Cost – Retired GRA members & Spouse: €312 per annum (€ 6.00 per week)
Retired Member only - Benefit - €42,500 to age 65. Cost €171.60 (€3.30 per week)
Spouse only - of Retired GRA Member - Benefit - €42,500 to age 65; Cost €140.40 p.a. (€ 2.70 per week)

NEW INCOME PROTECTION PLAN - INCREASED BENEFITS
New Income Protection Plan
To partly replace loss in earnings, benefit commences after 13 weeks if absent from work through Sickness and is paid for a period of 18 months (or on conditions to 42 months). No benefit is paid in respect of a member who is injured on duty.

If you are absent from work for 4 continuous weeks because of an Accident that occurred outside the course of your work, you will be entitled to receive benefit backdated to the end of your second week of absence.

BENEFITS: € 230.00 gross per week (taxable)

COST: Gross premium: €4.90 per week (premium qualifies for full tax and PRSI relief at source)

Net premium: €2.89 per week (for a member who joined before April 2005)
                       €2.60 per week (for a member who joined after April 2005). Full Details here >>

CAR INSURANCE SCHEME
AXA – GRA Members                         
The GRA / AXA Payment Plan allows members/spouses pay motor insurance premium by deferred payments over 44 weeks at no extra cost, deducted direct from pay.

ILLNESS / INJURY SCHEME
Illness /Injury Scheme – GRA Members
NEW INCREASED BENEFIT from 01/01/09 - € 75.00 per week for up to 13 week period re absence from duty through illness, or injury (not on duty or where 3rd party involved), after initial excess period of 5 weeks.
Cost – Funded by Association
